Refreshers 2020: see what’s happening

Students dancing at silent disco

Refreshers Week (27 January to 2 February) is your chance to get reacquainted with your Students’ Union.

If you do one thing, check out Refreshers Fair (Tuesday 28 January). With over 100 student groups to meet, there’s something for everyone to get involved with. Whether you’re curious about cooking, climbing or climate justice, you’re sure to find a group to cater to your interests. Falmer House will also be hosting external partners offering freebies, vouchers and opportunities, so go and say hello.

If your new year’s resolution is to eat a little healthier or you’re having a go at Veganuary, you’re in luck. Refreshers Week sees the return of the fruit and veg stall to Falmer Market (weekly on Tuesdays) alongside other regular sellers. Be sure to pop down to pick up some broccoli, bananas or bok choy - and welcome greengrocer Gavin to campus!

New year, new connections? The Buddy Scheme is running events for you to meet people and socialise in a chilled, informal setting, including Speed Mates (Wednesday 29 January). Postgraduate Officer Ben will be hosting a mature students meet-up off-campus (with postgraduate students welcome too) and The Network is back (Monday 27 January) for our PG taught and research student community.

If you’re after evening entertainment, there will be plenty on at SU venues. Ease yourself into the week as Room 76 transforms with Late Night Cafe for chilled acoustics and coffee (Monday 27 January). Then can take your pick of delights including a sustainability disco, bring your own vinyl night, the return of Northfield Bar’s cocktail night and the annual Mx Sussex drag pageant.

This is just a taster, so check out the full listings.
