Your skills: how to improve your Sussex Connect profile

Person on discussion panel

A well-planned, professional and interesting profile can have a real impact on your networking success, career searches and mentoring. This is true for your CV and cover letter, LinkedIn, Indeed and is just as true for your Sussex Connect profile.

So how can you make your profile work for you?

Do:

  • Include a picture – it’s easier for people to remember you and profiles with a picture are 14 times more likely to be viewed by others
  • Celebrate your achievements and outline any responsibilities you’ve undertaken
  • Write about your goals and interests – what you care about and want to achieve is always of interest.

Don’t:

  • Leave your bio empty – anyone looking will want to know more about you!
  • Forget to include any voluntary/unpaid work you’ve done – they’re relevant experiences
  • Forget to update it with new and relevant information whenever you can.
