Discover the Library services

Bookshelves in the University Library

Whether you’re in your first year or your final year, coming to visit the Library this term may feel like a new experience. It’s been a while since we’ve seen many of you in the building and we’re delighted to welcome you back.

To make it easier for you to use the building and discover our services, we’ve created some resources to help with orientation.

On the Welcome page, you’ll be able to sign-up for one of our in-person tours, listen to our self-guided audio tour on Spotify (with corresponding QR codes placed around the Library building), watch our Welcome video, and complete the online Digital Scavenger Hunt. If you can find 30 minutes to do these activities, they’ll provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to make the most out of the Library and save you hours in the long run!

We’ve made some changes to the layout of the building to make it easier to use. And we’ve simplified the different study zones, which now apply to a whole floor and get quieter as you move up through the building:

  • the Ground Floor of the Library is for Group Study. Cold food and drinks are allowed on this floor, and you can use phones and pcs for calls, online meetings and seminars.
  • the First Floor is for quiet study. Only drinks are allowed and your phones and other devices should be kept on silent.
  • the Second Floor is for silent study and has the same rules as the first floor. We've also updated the Library website to make it easier for you to find the information you need.

You’ll still find the big yellow chat box at the bottom of the Library homepage. So, if you’re having any issues with navigating the building, or the website, speak to one of our team through this chat service - we’re here to help you.
