Sussex Varsity win!

In the final week of March, University of Sussex sports teams competed in Varsity 2022. This is the annual sporting competition of the University of Brighton vs the University of Sussex, which sees a week of games between the Brighton Panthers and the USSU sports teams. This year, across the seventeen matches, Sussex won 14-3!
We hadn’t seen Varsity since 2019 due to the Covid pandemic, but it came back in full swing! Our wonderful cheerleading troops, the Sussex Swallows and the Sussex & Brighton Waves, cheered the teams on. And more than a thousand Sussex students came out to support their peers throughout the week.
Our Sports Societies and Events Officer, Annie, helped organise this year’s Varsity and was very proud of everyone’s efforts: “A massive well done to all Sussex sports teams for participating in Varsity 2022. You made the games worth watching and demonstrated the sporting talent we have here at Sussex! We’ve also got to hand it to Brighton University’s sports teams for the fantastic matches and sportsmanship throughout. And finally, thank you to all students and staff for coming to the matches and showing their support.”
