Tomorrow, IT Services will move another service away from older on-campus technologies and into the cloud, making our IT systems more resilient and dependable.
The student email system and Canvas are two examples of key University systems that now benefit from the stability of cloud-based technology. The next service to be moved is our main authentication system (the system that confirms your identity when you log in to many University resources).
On Tuesday 14 January, Office 365 will become the first core service to be authenticated in the cloud. If you log in to any of these pages, you’ll see a different login screen:
- The student webmail
- Accessing your OneDrive account in a web browser
There may be a short period of time when you won’t be able to log in to these pages, so ITS recommends that if you need to use them tomorrow morning, please log in before 10am. For more information, please see the ITS News page.
In coming weeks, more services (like Canvas and Box) will be updated to also use this more stable authentication system.
The staff email system will also be modernised and moved to the cloud in the near future.
