Welcome back to our ongoing series of student jobs on campus. Last time, we delved into the exciting world of Student Ambassadors. This week, we are excited to introduce another fascinating kind of campus employment: the Connector Programme.
What is Connector Programme?
The Connector Programme is your opportunity to enhance the student experience at Sussex through collaborative efforts between students and staff. Whether you are passionate about shaping the future of our university or eager to develop your skills, the Connector community welcomes you to participate in a range of activities, from online discussions to co-created projects. Joining the programme opens doors to paid roles on Co-Creation Projects, where your creativity and teamwork skills can truly make a difference. Join the connector community today.
The majority of paid Co-Creation Projects are funded by, and support delivery of the University's Access and Participation Plan (APP). They therefore prioritise appointing students who identify with the University’s APP criteria for APP Co-creation Projects, but all students at Sussex, IDS, or BSMS can join the Connector Community.
What kind of paid co-creation can you expect?
At the time of writing, 14 diverse projects are underway, one of which is this Student Blog. As student blog connectors, our aim is to inspire students to embrace novel opportunities and glean insights on how to make the most of their university journey.
In addition to the Student Blog project, the Connector Programme oversees a range of initiatives such as the Freedom of Speech initiative, the 'This is Home' Exhibition, and the Spirit of Sussex Award (SoSA) Engagement and Participation program. As the Connector Programme continually introduces new Co-Creation projects, we encourage you to sign up to hear about opportunities that resonate with your interests
The common aim of Connector Projects is to help students cultivate a strong sense of belonging at Sussex and enable students to actively get involved in shaping their own university experience. If you feel like you are the right person to make this happen, this job is for you.
What will you be doing as a student connector?
The exact duties will vary from project to project, but in these roles, you will be expected to attend meetings, collaborate with fellow Connectors, and learn managing tasks independently along with developing soft skills. Various support for personal and professional growth will be provided. Paying the Living Wage (currently £12.19 per hour), projects offer flexibility in duration and workload.
If you are passionate about driving change, honing your skills, or simply making a difference, the Connector Programme invites you to join a vibrant community dedicated to enhancing the student experience at Sussex. Do not miss this chance to be part of something meaningful!
