If you are looking for part-time work while you study, need a hand with your CV or job application, want to do a placement before your final year, or are thinking about launching your own enterprise, the Careers and Entrepreneurship team is here to support you throughout your time at Sussex.
You can find us online at our website or look out for our in-person events and fairs, starting with the Student Jobs and Volunteering Fair on Thursday 29 September from 12pm in the Student Centre.
Fiveways we’re here to support you:
1. We help with jobs and so much more.
Sign up to our CareerHub platform to view job listings, internships, placements and graduate opportunities
You can also book skills workshops and one-to-one appointments with the Careers team to explore your job ideas, work on your CV, or prepare for interviews and assessments, available exclusively to Sussex students.
Look out for online resources including CV360 to get instant feedback on your CV, prepare and practise for interviews with Big Interview, or explore different sectors and your own skills and motivations with our Making Career Choices guides.
2. We bring employers to you. Our virtual and in-person events are your chance to meet them before you apply
We’ve all seen job adverts that sound tailor-made for us, but sometimes you want to know more about the people, the culture, and the company; we have events to help you answer these questions.
Visit the Student Jobs and Volunteering Fair on Thursday 29 September in the Student Centre, to meet local recruiters hiring Sussex students for part-time jobs while you study.
3. Got a business or social enterprise idea? Thinking of going freelance?
4. Gain skills, experience, connections, and confidence with Career Lab
Career Lab opportunities are prioritised for students from UK-domiciled underrepresented groups (due to funder requirements), but we welcome applications from all students.
5. We’re for everyone. Whether you’re first-year or final year, foundation or PhD. It’s your service.
This is just a brief introduction to get you started. If you want to know more about our services and how you can make the most of them, visit sussex.ac.uk/careers or follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
Perhaps the most important advice we can give you as you arrive/return to our beautiful Sussex campus is to get stuck in. Apply for activities, jobs, and volunteering, and try creative projects that you love. You’ll then have plenty to shout about on your CV when you graduate.
Have an amazing year!
