The summer break can be a great opportunity to gain work experience and earn extra income. However, finding the right summer job can be challenging. Read on to discover some of the opportunities available through the University to help you find summer employment that aligns with your interests and career aspirations.
Beyond the Summer Jobs Fair
It was great to see so many of you at our recent Summer Jobs Fair, where attendees had an opportunity to talk to a great range of potential employers. For those of you who didn’t make it, don’t worry, you can still take a look at what exhibitors from Brighton and Hove Council to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) have to offer on the Student Hub. Do keep an eye out for our regular career fairs, which happen throughout the academic year!
Exclusive opportunities for Sussex students
We also have a couple of exclusive opportunities from companies that weren’t at the fair. Gatwick Airport is offering eight exciting summer internships exclusively for Sussex students. These paid internships are open to second-year students and will take place across 12 weeks and cover diverse fields including IT, marketing and finance. The application deadline is Sunday 25 February. Find out more on the Career Hub.
Interested in a career in the Arts or events? Or just want to get involved with the Brighton Festival? Brighton Dome have some great volunteering opportunities coming up in May.
Summer jobs at home and abroad
Fancy exploring further afield this summer? The summer jobs Student Hub page has a whole host of additional resources for finding work or internships over the vacation, both here in the UK and abroad.
Get your CV Summer Job ready
Finally, once you have found that perfect role, you will also need to fine-tune your CV and interview technique to give you the best chance of landing it. You can find the complete workshop programme from the Careers Team on Careers Hub.
