Since starting university have you joined a society? Taken part in a sports class? Joined a careers workshop? Had a part time job?
Did you know you can get recognition for so many activities that you have probably already been doing, AND it can go on your CV or job applications?
This is an opportunity to showcase your skills, passions, experience and commitment on top of your studies. Plus, it can help you feel involved with life at Sussex, make friends and build a wider network while you’re studying your degree.
You might be wondering what this could be…
It’s the Spirit of Sussex Award!
The Spirit of Sussex Award celebrates your extra-curricular and voluntary achievements during your degree.
By taking part in different activities, such as events, workshops, societies or volunteering, you can gain points towards either a Bronze, Silver or Gold Spirit of Sussex Award. These will be awarded at your graduation ceremony.
How does it work?
To get a Spirit of Sussex Award you need to gain points – you can gain these through taking part in University or SU activities, or even things such as part time work, or local volunteering.
The more points you earn, the higher the award:
- Bronze – 25 points
- Silver – 50 points
- Gold – 75 points
Each time you complete an activity you can log points in one of the available categories on the Spirit of Sussex Award platform.
Log into the Spirit of Sussex Award platform using your usual Sussex email and password. You will need to choose a category for each activity and upload evidence such as an image. You will also need to provide a description of your activity and level of responsibility – this can be in writing, audio, or video format. Do this for every activity you want to register towards your Spirit of Sussex Award.
You can log points for activities you’ve done at any point in your degree – even if it was two years ago!
Read more about the Spirit of Sussex Award and find inspiration for logging points on the Student Hub.
If you are a final year student, you have until Tuesday 1 April to log points for the activities you've taken part in during your degree.
