As it is our final Experience Sussex! of the year, we took to Instagram to find out about your highlights of 24/25. From our beautiful campus to personal milestones, here's a glimpse into what makes Sussex special.
Campus life and nature
Several of you mentioned the on-campus activities and the friendly environment as the best part of your year. From representing Sussex as an ambassador to making friends and practising a new language at the Language Cafe to curating and exhibition as part of Festival of Ideas, there’s been plenty to get involved with. Not that it is all go, the beauty of Stanmer Park and the tranquillity of our natural surroundings also received a lot of love.
Academic achievements
Academic milestones were a significant highlight for many. Assessment results, finishing degrees, and brilliant lecturers were all reasons to be cheerful for many this year. From the student who was pleased their hard work was paying off in the first semester to the researcher who achieved their doctorate after eight and a half years, a big congratulations for everything you have achieved! Having said that, we think the one person who picked “revising” as their highlight of the year may be in a minority.
Making new friends
It was lovely to see that your most common highlights were about our community here at Sussex. Meeting new people and forming connections is one of the most rewarding things about university. We had responses speaking fondly of making friends, meeting significant others, and the overall sense of community.
The University of Sussex offers a vibrant and supportive environment where students thrive—whether you are making lifelong friends, joining societies, or just soaking up the campus vibes. And to the person who asked us to publish the responses to our instagram call out, we hope this article hits the mark!
