Did you know that there is an online platform where you can meet with your fellow Sussex students, staff members and alumni? You can access this international network by signing up for Sussex Connect!
How can you benefit from it?
- You can look for guidance related to your professional development, like asking for someone to look over your cv/resume or asking for advice by email.
- Sussex Connect is also the perfect place to find a mentor and the best part is you already have something in common – you are both part of the Sussex community!
Mentoring success on Sussex Connect
Sussex student Muriam Bi (International Development BA) began their mentoring relationship with alumnus John Rosser (Geography 1973) as part of our Global Mentoring Programme. Jon was able to provide Muriam with educational and professional support and Muriam said she “gained so much” from their relationship and “the experience exceeded [her] expectations”. Next steps for final-year students
- Register to attend our in-person Sussex Connect event focusing on entrepreneurship, on 13 June 2023, 6pm to 8pm in Fora, East London.
- Make sure your Sussex Connect profile is up to date before the event, so you are ready to put your networking skills into practice.
- Check out the online Careers workshops for finalists, including LinkedIn and creating and maximising an online presence.
Next steps for everyone else
- Search for Summer jobs through Sussex Connect.
- If you are going into your final year next year, look out for our Global Mentoring Programme in the autumn term.
- Start building your Sussex Connect network. If you already have a profile, make sure it is up to date with your latest work history and career aspirations (Top Tip: find out more information on what to include in our Sussex Connect Resources).
- Find a mentor all year round through our Directory, using the filters to search alumni by industry.
