The Societies Committee has voted Food Waste Cafe as the society of the month for February!
The Food Waste Cafe has been providing students with delicious food and lots of fun events to get involved in over the past few weeks and deserves to be celebrated! Some of the highlights of their recent activities include pop up stalls outside Falmer House with tasty snacks, fundraising for local charities, and well attended hot food cafes. In addition to this, Food Waste Cafe will be hosting a vegan cooking class on 2 March for Climate Justice Week! Tickets to join them are currently available on their Students' Union website.
Food Waste Cafe President, Akiva, is proud of the work that he and his committee have put into running their society: “We're really honoured to have been voted society of the month. Our aim is to help students access sustainable and affordable food, whilst raising awareness about food waste issues. We hope this can spread the word to those who haven't found us yet, and help save even more food going to waste!”
Food Waste Cafe Society is one of our community and sustainability societies that uses surplus food to host food stalls and hot cafes for staff and students on a “pay as you feel” basis. Student volunteers cook the meals, providing a sustainable, accessible, and delicious option for everyone in the University community.
