If you haven't already heard, Active US is a scheme run for students by students, and we want to get as many of you active as possible!
We run a weekly social sports programme that includes volleyball, badminton, football, netball, basketball, squash, and running, but we do one-off events too! So far this term, we've run beach volleyball and boccia sessions – there are all sorts of other events coming up, so read on to find out more!
Badminton
On Sunday 27 February we will be running a free trans and non-binary Badminton event to celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month. This will be a safe space for trans and non-binary folk to meet new people and play some social badminton. This will be a relaxed event with lots of queer music, pride flags, and pronoun stickers! All equipment will be provided and our friendly activators will be able to show you the ropes and set up a few casual games.
Boccia
Boccia was a huge success at the start of term and we are pleased to announce that we are back with another session on 1 March from 4-5pm. Paralympian and Sports Scholar Louis will be leading this session, so come along if you feel like learning from a pro! This event will take place in Hall 2 of the Sports Centre, which is a quiet environment with step-free access. The Boccia session is for anyone and everyone, so please get in touch if you have any specific requirements.
This Girl Can and One World Week
Also coming up in March, we have two themed weeks – This Girl Can and One World Week! In these two weeks, we will be running events like UV Volleyball, Kickboxing, and Holi Run, so keep your eyes peeled for all sorts of fun activities.
