Your Student Reps ensure that student voices are heard in decisions that will impact you, by presenting students’ opinions and ideas to staff within your School.
Last term, Student Reps across the University worked really hard to collect feedback about your academic experiences. They have helped to facilitate some fantastic changes within each department.
Some of the areas Student Reps have recently worked on include:
-
Coming up with ways to better engage with students during seminars (such as quizzes and other interactive activities) and include more students in group discussions
-
Advocating for better support for international students arriving late and students returning from a year abroad or placement year
-
Making improvements to modules and assessments, such as changing the number of questions in exams
-
Introducing induction practicals for foundation year science subjects
-
Improving the layout and accessibility of resources on Canvas
-
Developing more accessible and inclusive teaching methods for disabled and neurodivergent students
-
Resolving timetabling issues
-
Clarifying assessment criteria, in addition to arranging office hour sessions and other support to help with queries regarding assessments
-
Getting new elective modules added for second year undergraduates
-
Adjusting the format and time of lecture materials being uploaded online
-
Encouraging lecturers to post an overview of skills and content covered in each module to improve students’ learning experiences
-
Setting up a Hybrid Learning Working Group
-
Networking, organising socials, and strengthening the connection between Reps and other students.
Congratulations to all the Student Reps for their achievements so far. Keep up the great work this term!
