The University of Sussex Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) are currently advertising for a number of students to work on a part-time basis during the Spring term.
Being employed as a fundraiser for the annual Sussex Fund Phonathon gives you the opportunity to earn over £500 during February, while helping to raise money to support and enrich the lives of Sussex students.
Expected to work a minimum of three shifts a week (two evenings and one weekend) you will be contacting Sussex alumni (graduates) asking if they would like to support the Sussex Fund’s crucial work and connecting them with the University.
Over the last two years, students have raised almost £500,000 for scholarships, hardship grants and initiatives to support the student experience.
The event, which has been running for several years, also helps provide alumni with information about forthcoming University events, whilst helping to speak positively about Sussex.
Ben Loxton, who manages the Sussex Fund and the telephone campaigns, said:
“It is a crucial role; alumni are very much part of the Sussex community and so the University’s Phonathon is an important means of keeping them in touch with news and developments here at Sussex.
“Our student fundraisers are at the heart of the Sussex Fund. It really is inspiring to work with people who have a desire to help others.
“It always makes for a friendly environment and it’s great to see how close the team becomes over the course of a campaign.”
The Phonathon also ensures students are matched with alumni who have studied similar courses as them, so they can gain valuable career advice and suggestions about what to do after graduating.
