The Brighton half-marathon is happening on the 2nd March 2025 and some Sussex students are running in aid of Grassroots, a suicide prevention charity. There have been a few drop-outs, so if anyone would like to sign up, they can do so on this link by the 9th February. There is no registration fee but participants need to raise £400.
Among the students already signed up are:
- Members of the Women’s Football Club, running in memory of a beloved teammate who passed away a few years ago.
- Members of the Sussex Swallow Cheerleading Club, who also participated last year.
- Other passionate students, including members of the Surf Club.
Additionally, we have runners from the Boys That Run Society, led by Ardi Sefre, the Sports & Events Officer for the Sussex Student Union. They host free group running sessions every Thursday evening at The Level in Brighton, fostering a supportive and inclusive running community.
How Can You Help?
Volunteers Needed. We’re looking for:
- Represent Grassroots Suicide Prevention and support the event organisers, Sussex Beacon. This role will include: stewarding, supporting the drink station, handing out medals and more.
- This is a unique opportunity to be at the heart of race day, connect with the community, and help deliver one of the UK’s largest half marathons.
- Help capture the spirit of the event and cheer on fellow students as they run for this vital cause.
