Following feedback from our Student Reps asking for access to hot water for all our students, the University of Sussex Business School has unveiled a new kitchen space for students on Level 1 of the Jubilee building, ready for the start of the academic year.
With a free hot-water supply now provided, students can make use of the kitchen space for anything from making coffee to preparing instant noodles for lunch. The Business School has even provided free tea, coffee, mugs, sugar and spoons so students can enjoy their breaks while they study in the Jubilee building.
The numbers of mugs is limited, so it is recommended that students bring their own reusable mugs. On top of that, there are some other ground rules to remember when using the kitchen:
- Business School staff will still be able to make use of the kitchen
- the kitchen is near offices and teaching rooms, so please be mindful of people working around you when using the kitchen
- keep the kitchen clean and tidy – and make sure you clear up any mess
- if the kitchen is not used responsibly, it may be made unavailable to students.
Business and Management Studies BSc student Yuki Kikuchi (pictured) was one of the first students to try out the new kitchen. He said: "It's important to take regular breaks when studying, so having our own kitchen to use is a great idea. It's really nice that the Business School is so committed to making the environment so student-friendly!"
The launch of the kitchen is just one of many new initiatives introduced this academic year to provide the best possible student experience for Business School students, including:
- the weekly Business School Community Hub
- a pre-arrivals call centre to welcome new students
- redesigned student web pages offering students guidance and resources to help them make the most of their time and studies at Sussex.
