Dear students,
Good luck with your assessment period starting next week. Remember you can find information on places to study, assessments and study skills on the Student Hub. Check the Skills Hub for resources and advice to help you get ready for your exams. And you can also self-enrol on our Academic Skills Resources Canvas site to take part in exam and revision sessions and find tips for optimising your revision week.
If you need help with your e-submissions, you can check the student guide the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team has created for you. The site includes resources on how to submit your work online and how to view your assessment feedback on Canvas.

Student Centre competition - chance to win a £50 Students’ Union Shop voucher!
If you need to complete a group project or study with your friends, or just relax in one of the quiet areas available – the new Student Centre is the ideal place.
You could win a £50 voucher to spend at the new Students' Union shop in the Student Centre’s retail arches. Just answer this simple question, (the answers in the latest issue of Flint). Terms and conditions apply.
Sussex Education Awards update
Thank you to all of you who nominated a member of staff for one of this year’s Education Awards categories, we’ve had hundreds of entries and the judging panel will soon meet to choose the lucky winners who will be announced at a ceremony on 21 June.
Industrial action update
In last week’s message I said we understand that there are student concerns about a potential marking boycott as part of the extended national industrial action by UCU members at Sussex and in 40 other Universities in the UK.
At present there have been no announcements about this potential action - as UCU have yet to tell us if there will be a marking boycott at Sussex.
I’d like to reassure you all that should there be a marking boycott at Sussex, we will do all we can to mitigate any action this may cause – and the University is continuing to engage with UCU at a local level about the national industrial action.

The Students’ Union and Sussexsport will use the results to evaluate and improve both the sports and physical activity offered to Sussex students and inform the University of Sussex 2025 strategy around building on the strengths of the student experience.
If you provide your contact details at the end of the survey, you'll be entered into a prize draw to win one of the 20 £25 Deliveroo vouchers.
Brighton Festival – opportunities for students
Finally, make sure you also take breaks while you're studying – and there’s some great things to do at The Brighton Festival that starts this Saturday until the end of May. The Brighton Festival is the largest arts festival in England and one of the major milestones in the international arts and cultural calendar. Our University has been one of the festival sponsors almost from its inception and this year we’ve also contributed several events as part of the Festival of Ideas.
We’ll also be hosting events on campus, including Worktable, a live installation where you can smash objects with a hammer and rebuild them. Check the Attenborough Centre website for more information.
