Students walking on campus
You will be aware that last week the online optional module choice facility in Sussex Direct had a number of technical issues, which required us to close the platform to enable our technical teams to investigate and to fix the problem.
We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused and can confirm that the issues have now been fixed.
The optional module choice facility will reopen for all students on Monday 27 March and close on Monday 3 April. All students must choose or re-choose their option and elective modules for 2023-24.
PLEASE NOTE: This includes any student who made their choices on either Monday 13 or Tuesday 14 March. You will need to log back into Sussex Direct and make your choices again.
Access to the system will be phased as follows:
Year/Level of study |
You can access the system from |
Current undergraduate 3rd year students going into year 4-(which includes year abroad, integrated masters and placement students) |
12.01am |
Current undergraduate 2nd year students going into year 3 |
08.00am |
Part-time postgraduate students going from year 1 to year 2 |
10.00am |
Current undergraduate 1st year students going into year 2 |
12.00pm |
What does this mean for you?
I was previously unable to select my optional modules
You will be able to log into Sussex Direct from 27 March and, depending on your year or level of study (as indicated in the table above), make your selections.
I was able to select my modules last week
During our investigation, we identified that many students were not able to see either the correct or the entire selection of optional modules from which they could pick. Your choice may therefore have been compromised. Because of this we have had to delete any optional or elective module selections made prior to the closure of the system and reset the system.
Therefore, you will need to log back into Sussex Direct from 27 March and, depending on your year or level of study (as indicated in the table above), you will be able to choose next year’s modules.
Once again, we apologise for the inconvenience this situation may have caused.
