Welcome to our Spring 2025 newsletter.
Over the last few months, we celebrated SHL beginnings with two special 10thAnniversary seminars by founder directors Caroline Basset and Rachel Thomson. We strengthened international links with visits from the University of Bern, Switzerland, and the Hong Kong Baptist University. We hosted Finding Pippo, a generative artist residency by Sussex alumna Nadie Buyse. We published “Our Future, Our Voice” on Sussex Open Press, a collaboration between Good Place Comms and SHL Digital. And we rejoiced on grant success with a prestigiousBRAID-AHRC award for Sustainable AI Futures, a collaborative project with Jo Lindsay Walton, Nic Seymour-Smith and Irene Fubara-Manuel as the Sussex contingent in a consortium led by Bath Spa.
Looking ahead, SHL week returns in June. Rising star, Joycelyn Longdon will share her ideas around justice-led conservation technology as our 2025 Annual Keynote on 17th June at ACCA. Our PhD advocate programme will deliver The Art of Opening up the Future, a series of events around Digital Futures by and for our PGR community. Also, for the first time we will present the Digital Methods Accelerator Summer Camp, a programme of taster workshops delivered by SHL Digital members aimed at Humanities and Social Science scholars wanting to skill up on digital methods for their research.
All this plus upcoming opportunities, events, and more.
