Faster Journeys
Two new express bus routes from Brighton to campus will be introduced by Brighton & Hove Buses on Sunday 28 September.
Last year, nearly 1,500 staff and students took part in our Travel Survey and your feedback was consistent – you wanted more bus services and faster routes.
Taking onboard your feedback, we have collaborated with Brighton & Hove Buses, Brighton & Hove City Council, and University of Brighton to introduce a brand-new route – the 3X route along with reinstating the much-missed 25X route.
New 3X route
The new 3X express route will be the fastest way to get from Hangleton to Brighton and Hove train stations and will provide a new express connection to campus.
Passengers will be able to spot a 3X bus stop instantly by the bright blue bus stop poles that will appear across the city. There are only 23 stops along the whole route to provide this cross-city express route – alight at Falmer Station for the University.
The full timetable is now available from Brighton & Hove Buses.
New 25X Route
Back by popular demand, the 25X limited stop express route is being introduced between Old Steine and the University of Sussex campus. Services will operate every 30 minutes, Monday to Friday daytimes, during Term Time only.
This route will stop at Sussex House on its way to campus and stop at Falmer Station as it heads back to the city.
The 25X route was greatly missed by students when services stopped, so we are delighted to have worked with Brighton & Hove Buses and Brighton & Hove City Council to reinstate this popular student route.

Changes to routes 23 and 25
Additionally, route 23 has been extended to Woodingdean – however, this route will no longer operate on campus, stopping instead at Falmer Station for access to campus. To compensate, the frequency of route 25 will be increased.
