Starting university or returning for a new term can be exciting but it can also bring challenges. At Sussex, your health and wellbeing are a priority, and you don’t have to face things alone. Whatever you’re going through, big or small, our Health & Wellbeing services are here to provide guidance, resources, and practical help when you need it.
24/7 mental health support
You can now access Togetherall, a free online service offering 24/7 anonymous mental health support. It’s a safe, moderated community where you can share your feelings, try out self-help toolkits, and connect with others.
We also work closely with Student Minds, the UK’s student mental health charity. They provide resources on everything from managing stress and building resilience to supporting your friends and navigating life at university.
Services available at Sussex
Our support covers a wide range of needs, including:
- Health & medical services – guidance and assistance if you’re unwell or need medical attention
- Mental wellbeing support – counselling, workshops, and resources for stress, anxiety, or emotional wellbeing
- Safety & security – advice on staying safe on and off campus
- Emergency help – who to contact and where to go in crisis situations
- Disclosing incidents & getting support – guidance and university support for reporting harassment, sexual misconduct, or other concerns
Everyday wellbeing & self-care
Support isn’t just for crisis situations. We also offer advice and tools to help you take care of yourself day-to-day, including:
- Managing homesickness and adjusting to university life
- Relationships and sexual health support
- Healthy eating, physical activity, and ways to stay active
- Guidance on living with others and managing shared spaces
- Faith, spirituality, and community support

If you need help, you can book appointments or access general wellbeing support through My Sussex or at the Student Centre. The Campus Health Centre (via UniMed) is also available for medical concerns.
