PhD Community Advocates Call 2025-26 open for applications

Applications are now open for two PhD Community Advocates.
The 2025-26 call thematic focus is "Data and Digital Justice".
What's on offer?
- The possibility to explore and expand research interests around the thematic focus with strong links across campus and beyond.
- Up to 20 hours work for each PhD Community Advocate paid at grade 5 (during semester 2).
- A small budget to run events, and the chance to shape the intellectual agenda and contribute to SHL Digital thriving research culture.
- Join a existing team of two other PhD Community Advocates from the Media, Arts, and Humanities.
- Academic and logistic support from SHL Digital team.
Who can apply?
The role of PhD Community Advocates is open to Sussex doctoral researchers registered for the full term of the position. For this year’s call (2025-26) we are recruiting specifically across Social Sciences and Engineering and Informatics. The selected two new PhD Community Advocates will join two other existing PhD Community Advocates in the Arts and Humanities. The PhD Community Advocates will work together effectively and flexibly as a self-managing team.
This opportunity is open to researchers already holding a scholarship, but it is the responsibility of the applicant to confirm that their existing scholarship role would permit them to apply.
