How to Access Sexual Health Support
November 17th-23rd marks STI testing week. However, you can request an at-home testing service if your post code starts with: BN1, BN2, BN3 or BN41 at any time to test for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and HIV. You can pick up STI testing kits from pharmacies, the Health Centre and the Student Centre and the vending machine in Falmer House (where the Students’ Union is). In Brighton & Hove and East Sussex, we have "the C Card". This allows for under 25s to pick up free condoms at most pharmacies, including the one on campus. You can access this by downloading the app and requesting condoms.
You should test between each partner and routinely every 3-6 months. It is also worth noting that different STIs have different incubation periods which you will need to ensure have passed to test for each infection.
If you have any questions or want to talk about this, you can visit the Sexual Health and Contraception (SHAC) to ensure that you have the right appointment for your circumstances. Alternately, you can visit Free Wednesdays in the Students’ Union on Wednesday 19th November from 12-2.
