Abandoned bike tagging takes place in June

Every summer, the Estates team monitors our campus bicycle racks and identifies bicycles that appear to be abandoned. These bicycles are then tagged with a bright yellow notice, which indicates that they have been identified as abandoned.
If a bicycle is still tagged a month later, the bike is then removed to ensure that our bike racks are clear and available to use by staff, students and visitors.
Abandoned bikes are stored securely on campus for a short period, and then either donated to charity or recycled.
If you use campus bike racks, and your bicycle receives a yellow tag, simply remove the tag and your bicycle will be left where it is.
Any bicycles that are still tagged after Friday 10 July 2026 will be removed, and the bike lock destroyed.
