Lucy Hughes, MarinaTex
Product design graduate Lucy Hughes won the James Dyson Award for developing a bioplastic from fish skins that could replace non-biodegradable, single-use plastics. MarinaTex has been featured in The Guardian, Design Week and BBC and was recently awarded the University of Sussex Social Impact Prize.
Darren Tenkorang, TRIM-IT
Trim-It is a mobile app helping barbers to manage appointments and promotions, whilst reducing waiting times for customers. The app is available in over 300 barbers across London and Brighton. Founder, Darren Tenkorang was named the University of Sussex Student Entrepreneur of the Year in the annual Startup Sussex enterprise competition.
