This event is a great opportunity for students, both new and returning, who are looking to find part-time work or volunteering roles, to help finance your studies or gain work experience.
When it takes place
The Student Jobs and Volunteering Fair takes place on Thursday 9 October 2025, 12pm - 3pm in Woodland Rooms, Student Centre.
It is open to all students.
How to attend
You can book one 30-minute slot through Ticket Tailor.
You will need to:
- show your e-ticket and student card on arrival
- arrive 10 minutes before your timeslot begins (this allows time for queuing, signing in and meeting the exhibitors).
These time slots are in place to manage the flow of attendees at the Fair. Bookings are limited to one time slot per student.

- Action Tutoring
Action Tutoring is an education charity that partners with schools to provide cost-effective, evidence-based tutoring, supporting pupils facing disadvantage to unlock their full potential. Volunteers deliver targeted support to local children facing socio-economic disadvantage, helping schools meet their academic goals.
Recruiting for: Volunteer English and Maths Tutors.
- Amano Technology Limited
Amano supports disabled students in achieving their goals with specialist Non-Medical Help (NMH) services. Their consultants help break down barriers to learning for their students every day, helping them to achieve educational success.
Recruiting for: A variety of paid roles, including Study Assistants (helping students organise and manage studies), Proofreaders (checking clarity and accuracy of written work), Sighted Guides (supporting visually impaired students around campus), Pre-induction Support (helping new students settle in), and Manual Notetakers (producing clear notes from lectures).
- Appetite4Work
A temping agency specialising in providing work within the hospitality industry across London and the South East.
Recruiting for: Casual hospitality roles such as Waiter, Bartender, Retail Assistant, and Kitchen Porter at hotels, stadiums, and festivals.
- B.A. Sports Academy
B.A. Sports Academy provides extracurricular sports, performance and academic clubs to primary schools across Brighton and Hove. These clubs are an exciting opportunity for children to develop skills and have fun while enjoying a particular sport, subject or performance activity. This includes gymnastics, musical theatre, dance, football, handball, chess and practical science.
Recruiting for: Sports Coaches, Performance Coaches, and Specialist Teachers/Tutors to lead and assist the primary school clubs at hour-long weekday sessions.
- Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival
Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival is an arts charity running a year-round programme of events across three venues: the Concert Hall, Corn Exchange, and Studio Theatre. It also delivers the annual Brighton Festival each May and oversees Create Music, a music education hub that supports 19,000 children across Brighton and Hove as well as East Sussex.

- Change Grow Live
Change Grow Live is a health and wellbeing service that supports people affected by drugs and alcohol through a programme of therapeutic groups, one-to-one support sessions with a dedicated key worker, and complementary therapies. They also prepare them for independent living by supporting their recovery in the community.

- Citizens Advice Brighton and Hove
Citizens Advice Brighton and Hove are a local independent advice charity, part of the Citizens Advice network. They provide free, confidential and impartial advice and campaign on the issues affecting people’s lives.
- Communications, Engagement and Advancement (University of Sussex)

- Healthwatch East Sussex (East Sussex Community Voice)
Healthwatch East Sussex is the independent voice of local people on health and social care. We gather feedback on people’s experiences, provide an information and signposting service to help them access care, and share what we hear with decision-makers to improve services across the county.
Recruiting for: A Healthwatch Volunteer to take part in a range of healthcare-related projects throughout the year, including viewings of healthcare settings, patient-led assessments of the care environment (PLACE), mystery shopping of online and telephone services, engagement with the public and research.
- International Office (University of Sussex)
Students are employed to support the International Office with their work and share their experiences with prospective international students. Ambassadors cover a variety of tasks, including conducting campus tours, dealing with prospective student enquiries, supporting Open Days and creating content for social media channels.
Recruiting for: International Student Ambassador roles.
- Little LifeSavers Charity
Little LifeSavers trains volunteers to deliver a 70-minute workshop that teaches lifesaving skills to school children in Years 5–8. Volunteers visit schools across Sussex to show pupils how to perform hands-only CPR and respond in a medical emergency.
Recruiting for: First Aid Trainers in schools.
- Lawn Tennis Association (LTA)
The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) is the national governing body for tennis in Great Britain and organises the Lexus Eastbourne Open, taking place from 20–27 June 2026. The LTA promotes and develops tennis at all levels, from grassroots participation and coaching programmes to professional tournaments and player governance.

- Spirit of Sussex Award (University of Sussex)
A co-curricular scheme at the University of Sussex, the Award is available to all students at the University of Sussex and provides recognition via formal certification of students achievements outside their studies. Students log points via an online platform in a range of categories, including work experience and training and development, and work their way towards a Bronze, Silver or Gold award.

- University of Sussex Students’ Union (Volunteering)
The Students' Union is a charity, separate from the University. They represent all students, ensuring the student voices (particularly those of the most vulnerable students) are heard and responded to by the University. They aim to improve the student experience by running sports clubs, supporting student societies and putting on student events for all students at the university.

- University of Sussex Students’ Union (Paid work)
The University of Sussex Students’ Union (SUSU) is an independent charity representing all students at both the University of Sussex and Brighton and Sussex Medical School. It offers over 40 sports clubs, 180–261 societies, and community volunteering opportunities on campus and in Brighton. Sussex University Students’ Union is the student-led hub on campus, providing support services, social venues, clubs, societies, campaigns, and democratic representation. It helps students organise events, campaign for change, access support, or simply socialise.
