Get Settled

Explore our week of Welcome and induction to life at Sussex for new and returning students.

Welcome Week

Get Settled is the second part of your Welcome and induction programme as you start your journey as a Sussex student.

During Welcome Week, you will have the opportunity to take part in Big Welcome – the University’s massive hello, welcoming you to campus and our Sussex community.

School sessions

You will have sessions provided by your Schools, introducing you to your subject and the services available from your School.

Log into Sussex Direct using your Sussex username and password (which you get when you complete online registration).

Select:

  • the Study tab near the top of the homepage
  • Timetable from the drop-down menu
  • Study Timetable.

Then scroll to the week beginning Monday 20 September to view the Welcome talks and events specifically for you, relating to the subject you’re studying.

Pick and mix sessions

You’ll also choose pick and mix sessions – a schedule of student panels, talks and activities hosted by our staff, introducing you to wellbeing and careers services, plus topics we care about that you might be interested in, such as sustainability and equality.

Choose the sessions you wish to attend each day. If you miss an event, don’t worry – they’re usually repeated later in the week.

These sessions aren’t in your Sussex Direct timetable – instead, book on to them from the listings below.

If you’re arriving from overseas, you can take part in our New to the UK talks, led by our Student Connectors.
