Overview

Welcome Week takes place between Monday 21 and Friday 25 September 2026 and there are many activities you can attend. These are split into academic welcome events that are specific for your faculty and general Welcome Week activities happening across the university, helping you settle in and make friends.

Welcome Celebration Day – Friday 25 September

Get ready for a day of celebration as we welcome you to Sussex in style. You can meet with staff and fellow students and enjoy performances, musicians and even a few animals across campus. There will be a special welcome for new University of Sussex Business School students at 1.30pm in Jubilee Lecture Theatre.

Important: If you’re studying a joint honours course (for example, American Studies and English BA), you should aimt to attend both of the individual course welcome events. Part of your course might be delivered in another faculty. You can view other faculty welcome sessions here.

Welcome from the Associate Dean for Education and Students – The Importance of Media, Arts & Humanities

This event for all new students features a panel or our alumni. We’ll discuss the significance of our fields of study and the employment opportunities that await students with media, arts and humanities degrees. A drinks reception will follow in the Arts A courtyard, offering space to connect with other students and academic staff.
