Following the tragic event in Manchester this week, we wanted to remind people of the support that is available to our own campus community.
The University of Sussex is a member of the ‘One Voice Partnership’ in Brighton and Hove, a forum that brings together communities and faith groups across the city. The group issued a statement to show how it is standing in solidarity with Manchester: “It’s now even more important for all our communities to demonstrate that we will not let any terrorist action divide us and continue our great tradition of unity and respect for all. We stand firm that these acts of violence and hate must not go any further.”
You can read the full statement here, which includes information on the many vigils taking place across the city this evening. Some students and staff showed their support for families in Manchester yesterday both on social media and via a vigil on campus.
If any student is affected by the events or would like to talk about what happened in Manchester, they can contact the Student Life Centre, where the team are available Monday – Friday between 9am and 5pm.
