Trans Pride Brighton and Hove is the first and largest trans pride event outside America. It is organised by a grassroots community-led charity run by a team of trans and cis volunteers. This year, Trans Pride Brighton and Hove will take place on 19 July: there will be a protest march through Brighton in addition to a range of events including a trans makers’ market, an exhibition at Jubilee Library, and an after-party at North Laine Brewhouse.
Trans Pride Brighton and Hove write: “We seek to show the trans community in all of our joyous glory – transgender people as artists, musicians, writers, performers, as well as transgender people as everyday people just getting on with their lives. Just existing as ourselves is a source of Pride and being able to celebrate our lives is part of our journey towards full liberation.”
You can find out more about the history of Trans Pride Brighton and see photographs of the event over the years on this webpage.
Celebrating Trans Pride at Sussex
The trans flag will fly over Sussex House from 17-21 July in celebration of Trans Pride.
The LGBTQ+ Staff Network and Trans and Non-Binary Staff Network are holding a Pizza Picnic on Thursday 17 July from 12-2PM at the Meeting House to celebrate Trans Pride. This event is solely for members of those staff networks, who are welcome to book tickets through the Ticket Tailor link above.
In 2022, the Trans and Non-Binary Staff Network created a resource to help friends and allies understand the everyday experiences of trans and non-binary people and how best to support them.
