The Lyceum venue at Wilderness Festival
The School of Global Studies are swapping mortar boards and gowns for wellies and khaki shorts to head out to Wilderness Festival this summer (3rd to 6th August).
The Global Voices team will be putting on a packed programme of events, talks and thought-provoking panel discussions in festival's Lyceum venue. Taking inspiration from Aristotle’s ‘place of public learning’ founded in 335 BC, the Lyceum events will also include interactive workshops, exclusive film screenings and Q & A’s covering topics such as ecology, the environment, contemporary politics, art, anthropology and philosophy.
Sessions will be presented by top experts, including Climate Science and Society expert Professor Dominic Kniveton, who will be hosting a 'Playing Your Way Out of Trouble: Designing Games To Prevent Disasters' workshop and Professor Andrea Cornwall, who will lead a discussion on 'Pathways to Women’s Empowerment'.
Sussex alumni Jolyon Rubenstein and Hayden Prowse, from the popular television programme ‘Revolting' will also be taking part in "University Unchallenged", a quiz chaired by QI creator, John Lloyd.
Rosa Weeks, from the Global Voices team, said: "After two successful years at WOMAD Festival we are really excited to be taking our pop-up summer school to Wilderness, a festival with a strong reputation for engaging festival goers with new ideas and broadening minds through talks and debates.
“It's also a great opportunity for our researchers and practitioners to present their work to the wider public in a fun and accessible environment.”
