Sussexsport is excited to announce that they are part of a UNIversal Gym Membership Scheme, launched by British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS).
The scheme gives University of Sussex staff and students with annual Sussexsport Gold membership access to more than 50 university gyms nationwide for free.
So if you're a University of Sussex student but are from Manchester, you don't need to stop being active when you pop home, as your membership will give you access to university gyms in Manchester too, plus many more!
What does the UNIversal Gym Membership offer?
- Students or staff with Sussexsport annual Gold membership can use the gyms at participating Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) between 1 September and 31 August each year. When using partner university facilities, they will be referred to as ‘tourist’ members.
- Participating HEIs will outline the exact facilities that tourist members can access, including any restrictions that may be in place. For example, you may not be able to use another university facility that is in close proximity to your full-time university of study or work.
- Annual Gold Sussexsport student and staff members will be issued with a UNIversal Gym Membership card if they wish to take up the offer. These can be collected from Sussexsport reception desks at the Sport Centre or Falmer Sports Complex.
- A UNIversal Gym Membership card will need to be shown alongside a valid University of Sussex student/staff photo ID card to gain access to any participating university gyms. Both cards must be shown together at every visit for the membership to be valid.
What are the benefits of signing up to the UNIversal Gym Membership?
- Students and staff can now be active when they return home or spend time at other participating universities at no extra cost.
What will happen on my first visit to a participating UNIversal Gym?
- Any tourist member will need to complete a quick health questionnaire at the tourist gym when they make their first visit. Upon satisfactory completion of the form, the tourist member will be free to start using the new facility for no charge.
Participating universities include:
- Bournemouth University
- Brunel University
