Students at several UK universities have been targeted by scammers posing as accommodation staff and demanding unpaid rent. These fraudulent attempts have already victimised several unsuspected students.
To protect yourself, make sure to verify the legitimacy of any requests for outstanding rent, and never disclose sensitive information nor make payments without proper authentication.
If you live in accommodation managed by the University of Sussex, you should only pay your rent via Sussex Direct. If you haven’t paid your rent yet, make sure to do it via the official portal as soon as possible.
