This year’s Holocaust Memorial Programme features an open exhibition titled ‘Remembering the Roma Holocaust’, which will be held at the Attenborough Centre for Creative Arts on Friday 7 February (12-3.30pm).
Led by Widening Participation and developed in partnership with colleagues across the University and Friends, Families and Travellers, the exhibition aims to re-centre the experiences of Roma and Sinti communities within the broader Holocaust narrative. It also reflects on contemporary issues of equality, diversity, and inclusion for all people of Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller heritage.
As part of the event, there will be a limited opportunity to attend a screening of Roz Mortimer’s ‘The Deathless Woman’ (2019). The film will run from 1-2.30pm and will be followed by a discussion panel from 2.45-3.30pm. Please book your seat in advance to secure a ticket here.
This event is open to all and will bring together a diverse audience, including University leaders, academics, community representatives, and students.
The open exhibition will also be available to view at the Jubilee Library in Brighton from 27 January-1 February. Please check the library's opening times for access.
We are proud to align this event with the University’s commitment to GTRSB equality and inclusion. Learn more about the Gypsy, Traveller, Roma, Showman, and Boater (GTRSB) Pledge here.
