Turn your winter break activities into a Spirit of Sussex Award!

Welcome back and Happy New Year!
As 2026 gets underway, if you’re a finalist student and you’ve not yet thought about submitting for your Spirit of Sussex Award, you should start now.
As a head start, here are 5 things you might have done over the winter break that you can log points for!
1. Picked up extra shifts
Did you work a part-time job over the winter break? Log it in the Work Experience category under the question “Do you have a part-time job?” (+5 points) .
2. Celebrated Christmas, Hannukah, Yule, Bodhi Day, or Pancha Ganapati
If you celebrated a religious tradition as part of your faith, spirituality or practice, log it in the Creativity and Culture category under the question “Have you been involved and engaged with a faith or religious society or community?” (+5 points).
3. Saw a pantomime, went to a gig, or visited a museum
Enjoyed the arts? Log it in the Creativity and Culture category under the question “Have you been involved in any creative or cultural activity?” (+5 points).
4. Enjoyed some Winter walks, or went ice skating or continued a hobby
If you found a way to look after yourself physically or mentally, log it in the Sports and Wellbeing category under the question “Have you participated in mindfulness or well-being activities?” (+5 points).
5. Volunteered
Volunteered or fundraised for a good cause? Log it in the Volunteering and Fundraising category under the question “Have you participated in any one-off volunteering or fundraising activity?” (+5 points).
