In November 2025, the World Health Organization released its first guideline for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of infertility – recognising it as a global health issue.
As fertility rates fall worldwide, with most countries projected to be below replacement level by 2050, demand for assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs) is rapidly increasing across the Global South, often without adequate infrastructure.
To highlight this critical public health concern, the BSMS Global Health and Infection Department is hosting an informative evidence-based online forum in its Current Stories in Global Health series.
Join us online, via Zoom, for insightful discussions with global health experts from BRAC University (Bangladesh), Canterbury Christ Church University (UK), the Dhaka University (Bangladesh), international research centre the icddr,b (Bangladesh) and Brighton and Sussex Medical School (UK) – who are working to address infertility in the context of health inequalities.
Whether you are considering a career in Global Health, a healthcare professional, or a multidisciplinary healthcare academic with an interest in addressing health inequalities, don't miss this opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and learn how you can make a difference in the health of communities worldwide.
Free and open to all, this event will be held online via Zoom on Wednesday 28 January at 2pm UK time. Register on Eventbrite to book your space and a Zoom link will be emailed to you closer to the event.
