Sussex Festival of Ideas: join the online launch on 28 April

Join us on 28 April for an afternoon of online events to mark the launch of the new Sussex Festival of Ideas.

The 2021 Sussex Festival of Ideas is a free, four-day festival celebrating the work of the newly-formed School of Media, Arts and Humanities (MAH). From 9 to 12 June, we’re bringing you a dynamic and engaging programme of online talks, events and activities, accessible through the Sussex Festival of Ideas website. In its inaugural year, the festival will celebrate a host of contemporary ideas around documentary and film, music and creative practice, poetry and language, as well as the vital role of our local cultural institutions.

We see this as an important opportunity for diverse audiences to connect with vibrant work collaboratively produced by a wide range of students, staff and community partners, including Charleston, Towner, Farleys House, Photoworks and Audio Active.

Our 28 April launch will commence with an exclusive preview of the programme, followed by a keynote talk from former Sussex student Clive Myrie, in discussion with Ivor Gaber. To top this off, we’ve collaborated with the MAH student podcast team to bring you a very special episode of ‘On the Record’ featuring the University of Sussex Chancellor, Sanjeev Bhaskar.

If you become inspired to pursue a career in media or related fields, look no further. We’ve collaborated with the Careers and Employability Centre who have designed three online events. During the launch week, hear from alumni of the School of Media, Arts and Humanities in ‘Follow Your Passion – How to Create a Job You Love’, and learn more about entrepreneurial and freelance careers.
