Your future: why you should come to Careers Fair

Two students talking with an employer at Careers Fair

Wednesday 6 November, 11am to 3pm, American Express Community Stadium

Careers Fair is an annual event hosted by the Universities of Sussex and Brighton. It’s your chance to speak to employers and organisations, and find out more about the opportunities they offer both during your studies and after you graduate, including placements, internships and graduate jobs.

There’s something for everyone

We’ll have over 120 employers and organisations ranging from charities including Sightsavers and YMCA to large graduate employers such as Schroders, American Express and the Civil Service. You can view the full list on theCareers Fair app.

It’s open to all years

If you’re in your final year, learn more about graduate schemes and full-time opportunities, overseas work and volunteering, further study and training.

In your first or second year? Find out about work experience and vacation opportunities, one-year placements, UK and overseas volunteering, and further study. Get a head start looking at what could be on offer to you after Sussex.

“Great insight into graduate opportunities at an impressive venue” – Student feedback

Meet employers face-to-face

It’s a chance to get a feel for whether a particular employer is right for you.

Talk to exhibitors about their organisations and opportunities and what they look for in applicants. Often new graduate trainees attend the fair and can give you invaluable direct insights into their work and company. Remember it works both ways, so aim to impress whoever you’re talking to.

"I liked being able to speak to companies I probably wouldn’t have considered applying to and being able to find out a bit more about what they do and want in applicants." – Student feedback

Plan your next steps

If you’re not sure what to do after you graduate, there are over 80 employers at the fair looking for students from any degree discipline, so you may be surprised at the range of opportunities you can consider. Don’t just look for employers who are offering jobs directly related to your degree – be open to new options.

“A unique fair which really helps students find what they want to do.” – Student feedback
