Your arts centre: enjoy live music at ACCA

Members of the band Squid

Throughout the year there’s plenty to keep you entertained at Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts. Here are some upcoming opportunities to enjoy live music on campus.

Cristian Vogel / Squid

This Wednesday (9 October), don’t miss a public concert featuring Sussex alumni to celebrate the launch of the Jonathan Harvey Electronic Music Studio. As a student you can get a £5 concession ticket.

Squid are a five-piece band (four of them Sussex graduates) on the rise in the UK and Europe. With enigmatic lyrics, electronic textures, punchy drumming and catchy guitar riffs, they’ve been dubbed by the NME as ‘the weirdo-punk band making the avant-garde accessible’.

Cristian Vogel is an innovator in the composition, mixing and performance of electronic sounds, who studied with Martin Butler and Jonathan Harvey at Sussex in the 1990s. His work spans over 25 years in the vanguard of European electronic music.

Book now at the ACCA website or in person at the Box Office.

Free launch events are running from 4pm to 8pm before the concert. Come along for drinks, nibbles and a live mash-up of music by Sussex composers past and present, including current students.
