Your studies: make use of the Library’s digital improvements

Students working in Library

Over the summer the Library worked on digital improvements to help you access our spaces and services.

In August we replaced the self-service kiosks and the book return sorter. These new machines will help you borrow and return books much more quickly. The new book sorter also allows you to receive your receipts via email.

We installed new navigation kiosks on the ground, first and second floors, which include digital displays of the Library floorplans, so you can find your way around more easily. You can download the plans to your device too. Never get lost looking for a book again!

The kiosks also allow you to view workshops and events on-screen, including research skills training, Digital Tuesdays and fun activities.

The Library website has been refreshed, drawing on feedback from student groups, surveys and interviews. The streamlined webpages should improve your digital journey and make it easier to find the information you need. Work to ensure all pages meet accessibility guidelines is continuing over the next few months. In addition, we’ve got a new inclusive technology service, SensusAccess, which enables you to convert files into more accessible formats such as digital Braille, MP3 and DAISY.

The Library is always looking for feedback – any suggestions for using and improving our spaces are welcome. Please send your ideas to library@sussex.ac.uk.
