Today (25 September), Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education and Students, Kelly Coate, sent her regular weekly email to all Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught students. You can read the full email here:
Dear students,
As we begin teaching next week, I have some important reminders and key information to share with you in this week’s update:
If you have Coronavirus symptoms, or you’re self-isolating
If you have Coronavirus symptoms, or you’re self-isolating you must immediately report this to the University. Find out what the main symptoms of Covid-19 are and what you must do if you have them here.
Download the NHS contact tracing app
We ask that you download and use the new NHS Covid-19 contact-tracing app, it’s a vital part of the NHS Test and Trace service in England and Wales. If you have an Apple phone, download the app from the Apple App Store. If you have an Android phone, download it from Google Play. The app is designed for use on smartphones only, not tablets.
Rules of the classroom
With teaching starting next week, I’d like to remind you of the Rules of the classroom that we all must follow and if you have not already seen them, you can view these on the Your Education page on the Student Hub. They will also be clearly displayed in every classroom and must be followed at all times when you are in teaching areas.
Our Community Pledge
We all need to support each other by behaving with mutual respect and care – and over 3000 people have demonstrated their commitment to do so by signing up to our Community Pledge. Please add your name if you haven’t had chance to yet.
Timetable information and queries
You can access your timetable on Sussex Direct, go to the study page and click on Study Timetable. If you have any questions about your timetable please contact your School Office.
How to access Zoom
As your learning will be a mix of in person and online, it’s important that you know how to access Zoom to enable you to access remote teaching and virtually meet students and staff. All Sussex students automatically have a University Zoom account - which provides many benefits over a free account you may already have. Find out more here.
Study spaces
You can book socially distanced study spaces in the Library and the student computer rooms. You can click here to book a space.
Download the SussexMobile app
Please download the SussexMobile app to your devices to access a range of services and information including, registering your attendance, your emails, course timetables and details of your library loans and reservations. More information is available here.
Looking after each other and abiding by the law
On Tuesday I sent an email to all students, about looking after each other and abiding by the law. If you have not read this you can view it here.
University student support services
The University is here for you, and if you need advice or practical support please do reach out and contact the relevant student support service.
Where to eat on campus
There are a range of food venues and options available on campus, all providing food and drink in a Covid secure way. Details of these can be found here.
Keeping you informed
We want to make sure that you have the information, guidance and support that you need to make the most out of your education and student experience. Please click here to see how we do this.
I hope you have a good week.
With best wishes,
Kelly
