Refectory Road is closed from Wednesday 17 June
The north end of Refectory Road (after the Student Centre), including the west-side pavement, is closed from Wednesday 17 June until Friday 10 July to facilitate preparation works for the demolition of the old Health Centre, following the opening of the new Health and Wellbeing Centre.
Pedestrian access will be moved to the east side of the road, parallel to the Student Centre.
There will be additional roadworks taking place on the road alongside Swanborough from Monday 22 June until mid-August. Pedestrian access to Swanborough and Fulton will remain available.
Traffic management is also in place at the junction connecting Refectory Road, Northfield Lane and East Slope Road (in front of Brighthelm) until Friday 3 July, as part of preparation works for further West Slope construction.
A27 sliproad closure by Falmer
To improve safety under the footbridge on the westbound A27 exit slip road towards Falmer, National Highways are undertaking work on the sliproad from Monday 15 June, for five weeks.
The following will be closed during these works; please be aware that diversions will be in place near Falmer and the University:
- The westbound A27 exit slip road towards Falmer
- Lane 1 of the A27 westbound just after the Ashcombe Roundabout at Lewes to just after the westbound exit slip to Falmer

New bus timetables are now active
Changes to Brighton & Hove Buses services are now active, as of Sunday 14 June. This includes a vacation timetable for the 25, N25 and 25X services as we are now out of termtime.
See more information via Brighton & Hove Buses.
Abandoned bike tagging is ongoing
The Estates team is identifying and tagging bicycles that appear abandoned this month, to ensure our bike racks are clear and available to use for staff, students and visitors.
If your bike is tagged and it is not abandoned, simply remove the tag and the bike will not be removed. Bicycles that are still tagged after Friday 10 July will be removed.
Car parks, roads, and closures
Four disabled parking bays between the Student Centre and Swanborough are closed to undertake essential electrical maintenance works in the area. Four alternative bays in the same area are open as normal.
