About the event

Digital Futures is an exciting new event tailored to arts, humanities and social science students. You don’t need to know how to code—everyone's welcome to attend and explore opportunities in the creative tech sector. Discover a wide range of careers across industries including creative agencies, technology and television.

Join us and connect with speakers from leading organisations, including:

  • Microsoft
  • Creative Process Digital
  • Seed Marketing
  • Bright Interactive
  • Code First Girls.

What to expect

This year's Digital Futures event provided students with:

  • a better understanding of the current digital job market, and the variety of roles available in the digital economy
  • insights into the shifting landscape of digital careers, and how your existing skills and degree can be relevant to these roles
  • practical knowledge and next steps for pursuing a digital career, enhancing your confidence that your degree and skills are valuable in the digital industry.

The day involved:

  • an interactive tech challenge to gain real world experience
  • an Employer Panel Discussion with speakers from various sectors, representing both tech companies and organisations with significant tech functions. These include Microsoft, Silicon Brighton, and Bright Interactive
  • a Graduate Panel Discussion. Hear from Sussex alumni who studied non-technical disciplines and are now in digital roles or have started their own digital-focussed ventures
  • next steps for you. Hear about paid internships, and student consultancy projects you can apply for, networking opportunities with Silicon Brighton, and digital skills training courses with Creative Process Digital.

Is this event for me?

This one-day event covers different types of roles and employers, insights about transferring your experience regardless of your degree, and the chance to take part in an interactive tech challenge.

Applications are open to all Sussex students. Places are prioritised for those studying non digital/technology-related degrees.
