Students receiving scholarships met with some of the people whose donations have funded the awards.
An event to celebrate the successful students who are in receipt of scholarships was held on Wednesday (31 October) in Bramber House.
They were joined by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Michael Farthing, as well as friends of the University who have given donations to fund scholarships, including Ros Kellaway, Rachel Langridge, Holly Price, Professor John Spiers and Kenny Tutt.
The event had an international flavour, with more than 80 students representing 25 different countries.
Richard Lynch-Smith, the recipient of the Cate Haste Scholarship in History MA, and Kentaro Fukuchi (from Japan), who was awarded the Chancellor’s International Scholarship and the Kate Root and Kate Spiers Memorial Scholarship, spoke about the way in which the scholarships would support them in their studies, and the positive difference the awards have made to them in having the opportunity to improve the lives of others.
The reception was organised by the Student Services team, supported by the Student Funding team and the Development and Alumni Relations Office.
