Abandoned bicycles to be removed from bike racks on campus

As the summer vacation period continues and we get ever closer to September, we are asking any students and staff with bicycles still on campus to please collect them as soon as you are able, so we can clear and refurbish the bike racks ready for the new term.
If you are still living or working on campus, however, please tag your bike to indicate that it has not been abandoned. Students can collect a tag from their residential reception or porter’s lodge during standard opening hours. Staff are recommended to collect a tag from York House reception.
Bicycles that are tagged will not be collected, but we may ask the owners to move them for refurbishment of bike racks.
After Friday 31 July, we will remove from bike racks all untagged bicycles remaining on campus and store them securely indoors. Please be aware that we may need to destroy bike locks when relocating untagged bikes.
If you are unable to collect your bike before this date, please contact the Transport Office and let them know where your bike is and what it looks like, with as much detail as you can provide, so we can tag it for you.
Bicycle removals will take place as follows:
- Monday 3 August: Northfield and Lewes Court
- Tuesday 4 August: Park Village and Park Houses
- Wednesday 5 August: East Slope, Swanborough and Brighthelm
- Thursday 6 August: Stanmer Court
- Friday 7 August: Academic/non-residential areas of campus
More information and FAQs about bike removals, as well as cycling on campus in general, is available on the Transport website.
