Students walking through Library Square
Today (Tuesday 12 September), Jayne Aldridge, Director for the Student Experience, sent a message to all continuing students. You can read the email in full below.
Dear continuing student,
Welcome back to Sussex for the new academic year. This email contains information to make the start of the new academic year as hassle free as possible, so you are ready to re-commence your studies at the start of term.
Re-registration
The start of the new academic year means it is time to re-register. Please log in to Sussex Direct and click the blue Register button at the top of the screen. This will take you to the Online Registration screens. Enter either your registration number, candidate number or your username and click search. This will take you to your record.
Click through each of the orange tabs at the top of the screen and follow the instructions given on each page. Please check the information we hold; you can update any information by using the edit button. Look out for the checklist on the right of the screen which shows those areas you need to pay particular attention to; these will be marked with a red cross. As you complete these sections they will turn to green ticks.
If you have difficulties completing any of the checklist items, please refer to the online Help 'pop-up' available for each item, and where necessary use the contact details shown in the Help pop-ups. If you don’t find the answer you are looking for, please contact askus@sussex.ac.uk.
If you are in receipt of a maintenance loan, we will confirm your re-registration to the Student Loans Company once you have completed the re-registration process and this will trigger any loan payment you may be expecting.
Student support and information
Remember, if you are looking for information and advice on practical matters, visit the online Student Hub. The Student Centre also provides a wide range of support services. You can contact the friendly Welcome team to arrange a confidential appointment with one of our advisors on any matter that may be affecting you.
My Sussex – new online support portal
If you don’t find the information you require on the Student Hub, you can access the new online support portal My Sussex. This new tool offers you additional support throughout your time studying with us. The portal brings together key areas in one place, putting useful information at your fingertips and making it easier to find the information or support you need. You can visit My Sussex and log in using your usual Sussex username and password.
Please note that My Sussex is not an emergency service – staff will be able to respond to enquiries within core hours and cannot provide immediate support in an emergency. If you require emergency support information please visit the Getting help page on the Student Hub.
We look forward to welcoming you back to campus.
With best wishes,
Jayne Aldridge
